Delaware

William Penn and the Province of Pennsylvania owned portions of Delaware. This was said to have happened in the 1680's between the Lenape-Delaware tribe and William Penn. This trade was establish for the tribes good-will and for the Province to gain more land. The Lenape-Delaware tribe promised they would sell them a portion of land between the Delaware river and the Lehigh river. They decided to give them any ammount of land that a man could in a day and a half. This trade was called "The Walking Purcase." Pennsylvania ended up gaining 70 miles of land or 1,200,000 acres of the Delaware Colony. After theygave them the land, the tribe regreted it. The Lenape-Delaware tribe fought for 19 years to get the treaty abolished but they had no success. The tribe had to later move west to gain space.
